The weather changed from bad to worse – Agnieszka kicks in. As we have informed you earlier, at 7,000 m above sea level there is strong wind and it is impossible to take any actions. However, we can operate up to 6,000 m above sea level.

Difficult phase of the expedition

We have established camp 3 and we are ready for summit attempt. However, for 7 days we have been sitting in the base camp and we already know that weather conditions are going to be unfavourable for the next 7 days.

February 12, 2012, Sunday. Camp 3 is established, but …

On 9th February in the afternoon Adam Bielecki, Janusz Gołąb and Ali Sadpara established camp 3 at 7,040 m above sea level. They passed the Japanese Couloir without any problems.

Report – February 9, 2012 – Camp 3 established!

Today at approx. 3:30 PM Adam and Janusz have established camp 3. Both of them are going to spend a night there. Artur has reached camp 2 together with Shaheen at approx. 2:00 PM. Radio contact with the base camp has been lost.

February 7, 2012 – Life in the base camp

Base camp – February 3, 2012 – Report from the last two days

As it is known from the previous report, on 1st February Adam, Ali and Shaheen have established camp 2. Artur and Janusz were one day behind them. Fortunately, the route to camp 2 did not cause any major problems. Camp 2 was established at 6,450 m above sea level at Gasherbrum La.

Report 8. We’ve got camp 2! February 1, 2012

Today at 6:00 AM local time Artur and Janusz have set off towards camp 1 and reached it without major problems at approx. 3:30 PM.

Base camp at the foot of GI, January 30, 2012

Tomorrow Adam Bielecki, Ali and Shaheen are going to leave the base camp in order to try to establish camp 2. Hajzer-Gołąb team is going to act according to their progress. The weather during these days is good the second year in the row.

Saved from an unplanned bivouac by a gps

In one of our first reports we described the icefall: how it changed, how difficult it was and that we covered 70% of the road at this stage. However, we were wrong. As it turned out, we covered only 30% of it and the rest was equally difficult.

Report of January 27, 2012, Friday

Yesterday at 4:30 PM local time, Adam Bielecki together with two high altitude porters, Ali and Shaheen, established camp 1 at 5,930 m above sea level. Today at 6 AM local time Artur and Janusz have set off to transport a part of deposit to camp 1 and tomorrow they are going to make a reconnaissance of a route towards camp 2. Today Adam, Shaheen and Ali have descended to the base camp at approximately 2 PM.
